Surgical technologists are allied health professionals, who are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients. Surgical technologists work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical technologists possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician’s performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
Nurses care for people who are sick, injured, convalescent or disabled. Under general supervision, they deliver care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with established philosophy. Nurses collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Nurses effectively interact with patient and significant others, while maintaining the standard of professional nursing. The nature of the direction and supervision required for this position varies by State and job setting. Operating Room Nurses provide care and support to patients before, during and after surgery. OR Nurses also assist the surgeon and the surgical team in their tasks.
Sterile Processing Technician ensures that instruments used by all medical personnel in a hospital or other healthcare facility are clean and sterile. This entails performing manual cleaning prior to sterilization, placing cleaned instruments in sterilizers such as autoclaves, and starting and monitoring autoclaves. You also examine equipment for defects and report problems to management, test autoclaves and record the results, order supplies, assemble instrument trays, distribute supplies and ensure that sterile supplies are within their expiration date.
The manager is an employee who is responsible to plan, direct and oversee the operations and fiscal health of a business unit, division, department, or an operating unit within an organization. The manager is also responsible for planning and maintaining work systems, policies and procedures that enable and encourage the optimum performance of its people and other resources within a business unit.
The anesthesia technician is responsible for performing various technical duties to support the anesthesia team in the care of the patient. The anesthesia technician ensures all rooms and carts are adequately stocked with in-date supplies. The position ensures ORs and procedural rooms are cleaned and prepared for the next patient to ensure efficient operation of the suite
